Event graphics for two curated food events leading up to The Indian Cacao & Craft Chocolate festival 2023. Both events were experimental in nature, each a unique expression of Indian cacao and craft chocolate in food. The festival’s signature cacao pod, an ongoing exploration in itself, was interpreted in two ways to highlight the cacao-centred culinary explorations to be expected at the events, almost as an amuse bouche to stimulate guests’ palates before the festival.
The Cacao x Corn dinner was inspired by Diego Rivera’s famous mural The History of Mexico, at the National Palace in Mexico City, which depicts cacao being used to trade corn. Steeped in the history of these two crops, the event & menu was entirely ingredient-led. A custom set of illustrations highlighted the specialty ingredients and produce sourced for the meal.
The craft chocolate and beer event, on the other hand was craft led – exposing guests to the world of fermentation & flavour – and the design evolved with a technical look and feel and a focus on the word “craft.” The heirarchy of information and typography was crucial to ensure that each dessert, craft chocolate origin & craft beer pairing were highlighted, without overwhelming the design. Red and yellow spoke to flavour!
