Porcelain base and socket, Incandescent filament bulb, Fabric wrapped cord | 2015
Most of us have stood at a table in the annual science fair and proudly explained our science project. Sticking a bulb into a potato and seeing it light up in front of an audience was one of the most awe-inspiring moments of my life. I felt empowered because I knew HOW and WHY this happened, and could impress everyone with my knowledge. It ushered me into a habit of staying curious about and amazed with how everything functions in my everyday life. Potato Power is a lamp that celebrates the awesomeness of plugging a wire into a socket, turning a switch on and seeing a bulb light up. Its potato-shaped base, colorful cords and "cuteness" are meant to take the user back to an age when learning was FUN!
